I'm sorry that it took me so long to post this! This cd is a favorite of mine. I first had the pleasure of seeing this ridiculously talented ensemble last September with Caroline Smith & Johanna Kunin. "Hardwood Pews" and "In Our Blood" are two of my favorites!

The Flashbulb - Kirlian Selections

This is really intelligent music. The second album on Sublight for producer/composer Benn Jordan, Kirlian Selections offers up something spacious, pristine, and cinematic. It flows from beginning to end with the imagination and distraction of a daydream. It includes elements of electronica, progressive acoustic guitar, glitch, classical piano, jazz, downtempo, IDM, and solo violin. Sounds like classy edIT, or Mozart on cocaine.

Explosions in the Sky are an American instrumental post-rock band from Texas. The band has garnered popularity beyond the post-rock scene for their cinematic, elaborately developed guitar work, narratively styled instrumentals, and their enthusiastic and emotional live shows. They primarily play with three electric guitars and a set of drums, while band member Michael James will at times sub out his electric guitar for a bass guitar.

Here is an interesting fact about the band whilst you wait for the downloads;

They garnered a small amount of media attention with their second album, "Those Who Tell The Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell The Truth Shall Live Forever" due to rumors linking it to the 9/11 Attacks on The World Trade Center. The band denied any connection in interviews. The album art shows an airplane with the caption "This plane will crash tomorrow." There were false reports that the last track was called "This Plane Will Crash Tomorrow" and that the album was released on September 10th, 2001, the concept had actually originated in 2000, and the album was released on August 27th, 2001. Bassist Michael James was detained in an airport as a threat to security, and had to explain why his guitar contained the words "this plane will crash tomorrow".

"I Wan'na Be Like You" is a personal favorite but it's pretty much impossible to not sing along with "The Bare Necessities" either.

Nine Inch Nails - Ghosts I-IV

Nine Inch Nails presents Ghosts I - IV, a brand new 36 track instrumental collection available right now. Almost two hours of new music composed and recorded over an intense ten week period last fall, Ghosts I - IV sprawls Nine Inch Nails across a variety of new terrain.

Trent Reznor explains, "I've been considering and wanting to make this kind of record for years, but by its very nature it wouldn't have made sense until this point. This collection of music is the result of working from a very visual perspective - dressing imagined locations and scenarios with sound and texture; a soundtrack for daydreams. I'm very pleased with the result and the ability to present it directly to you without interference. I hope you enjoy the first four volumes of Ghosts."

Ghosts I-IV (also known as Halo 26) is the sixth studio album by Nine Inch Nails and was released on March 2, 2008. It contains 36 instrumental tracks and was recorded in ten weeks of autumn 2007. Initially intended to be a five-track EP, the album is presented in the form of four nine-track EPs. The tracks do not have names, and are only identified by their track listing and position on the EPs.

The album's initial release on the official Nine Inch Nails website suffered problems as the website crashed upon the album's release, and was not fully operational until March 4, 2008 because, according to Trent Reznor, they added extra servers to handle the influx of downloaders. The album is also available for download on Amazon MP3. Each track from the downloaded album has its own album art. A 40 page PDF document of the album's liner notes was included with the official downloads. The PDF can also be requested for download at the official website. This is also Nine Inch Nails' first release as an independent band.

This is one album I think people should purchase (if they like what they hear). It is only 5 bucks to get a high quality download of the entire album (in FLAC, Apple Lossless, or 320 Kbps MP3). What NIN is doing is important in the fight against the greedy music corporations and the outdated system of album sales.

This is Andy McKee's second album, released in 2004. It features the songs The Friend I Never Met (written for the late Michael Hedges, a great influence of Andy's), and Africa (a cover of the hit by Toto).

Andy McKee is praised by many as the most promising fingerstyle guitarists to arrive on the scene in quite some time.

At first, Andy's passion was the electric guitar, as he started out learning Metallica, Eric Johnson, Joe Satriani, and Dream Theater. Then, on Andy's 16th birthday, his electric guitar-playing cousin inspired him by taking him to see a guitarist named Preston Reed perform live at a clinic. McKee bought an instructional videotape from Reed and began to learn more complex guitar techniques from it. He began to take influence from guitarists such as Michael Hedges, Don Ross, Billy McLaughlin, and Tommy Emmanuel as he taught himself the instrument.

It is Andy’s passion for the music, attention to song structure, and diverse melodic content that elevates him above the typical guitarist. He is known for his extensive use of altered tunings, partial capos, percussive hits, and tapping. But in the hands of Andy these are not mere parlor tricks, they are compositional tools used to create some of the finest crafted music for the acoustic guitar.


This album is my favorite release by Andy McKee, featuring the incredibly addictive "Rylynn", the flagship song "Drifting", and the amazing finger picking outro in "When She Cries". It is also Andy's most soulful album to date. If you like it, buy it.
