Hopes Die Last is a very young 5-piece screamo/hardcore outfit that just recently blew up thanks to their EP, Your Face Down Now. Its bands like this that give hope to the local bands aspiring to make it big. While their sound isn't quite polished to perfection, their songwriting is certainly impressive considering their ages.
Hopes Die Last is a melting pot of sounds. They're quite similar to From First To Last (Dear Diary), and maybe a little bit like old Underoath (the stuff before Define The Great Line that was more pop-influenced), and Emarosa (formerly Corsets Are Cages). But then they also use a lot of vocal harmonies; in this aspect they sound like Hidden In Plain View. They also have some in common with Atreyu, with the screamed verses and sung choruses.
I don't really like the singer's tone, but he hits all of his notes. Overall, I'm still trying to decide how I feel about the EP. It's certainly growing on me.
