Australian Death Machine - Total Brutal
The hilarious side project of Tim Lambesis (vocalist of As I Lay Dying), inspired by Arnold Schwarzenegger.
You won't find fantasy lyrics or overly poetic love lyrics. There are only forcefully chanted, testosterone-driven phrases that governor Arnold would approve of.
Bottom line, Austrian Death Machine is fast, pissed, brutal metal...
and every song has a guitar solo :D

Heiruspecs - A Tiger Dancing
More St. Paul rap from Heiruspecs.
Well into the second generation of hip-hop, Heiruspecs are aware of the tradition from which they have grown--the track "Dollar" even name checks some of their influences. However, an awareness of history has also allowed them to push and pull against any limitations that tend to shadow the commercial ascension of any new musical genre. Favoring bands like De La Soul, the recurring electric piano parts tie part of their sonic identity more into seventies and eighties sitcom theme songs than to the slash and wallop of rap. (Try listening to "5ves" without picturing the opening credits of "Taxi.") Heiruspecs have seamlessly incorporated elements of soul, pop and jazz, sculpting a nicely diversified album experience.

Adele - 19
Adele is a young artist (born May 5, 1988) from England. 19 isher debut album, released on January 28, 2008, when she was (you guessed it) 19 years old. It debuted at number one on the UK charts on its first week. Included is a cover of the Bob Dylan song "Make You Feel My Love" from his 1997 album, Time Out Of Mind. She may be young, but she's experienced something not many other people have: track one, "Daydreamer", is about her bisexual ex-boyfriend running away with another man.

Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly - Searching For The Hows And Whys
One-man band Sam Duckworth, from Southend, Essex, UK, writes socially-motivated acoustic songs, set to a background of scatty electronic beats running from his laptop; what you might call “folktronica”. Influences include Roni Size, Athlete, Gomez, Elbow, The Streets and Rival Schools.

Heiruspecs - Small Steps
Heiruspecs (pronounced high-roo-spex) is a live rap/hip hop band based in Saint Paul, Minnesota, specifically the Midway neighborhood. The band's name is based on a deliberate misspelling of haruspex.
Heiruspecs formed in 1997 when the members were attending St. Paul Central High School. In 2004, Heiruspecs was named the best live artist in the Twin Cities by City Pages.
My favorite thing about this band? The bass player goes by "Twinkie Jiggles".

Our Last Night - The Ghosts Among Us
Of note: vocalist Trevor Wentworth is only 14 years old.
Our Last Night emerge as the fresh new face of rock with their explosive debut, The Ghosts Among Us. Produced by Steve Evetts (Senses Fail, Every Time I Die), the dynamic new album pushes boundaries with its blood pumping cocktail of brooding hardcore and cathartic rock. Lush melodic soundscapes interlaced with taut thrashing riffs on tracks like the irresistibly catchy "Escape" and the discordant anthem "Recovery" are a brash declaration of the genre's next heavyweights.

House Vs. Hurricane - Forfeiture
Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, House Vs. Hurricane are fast making a name for themselves. The band formed as six guys who all come from a variety of different musical influences (from August Burns Red, Poison the Well, Alexisonfire, Circa Survive to Herbie Hancock, Saves The Day, Bjork) with a desire to create something fresh and different in the heavy music scene. The result has caused quite a stir in the underground with a style of music that fuses ambiance, hardcore, rock, melody, experimental, electronica, alternative and more to create a sound that could be best described as progressive post-hardcore.
This is crazy good.

As I'm sure many of you have noted, the majority of new music is complete garbage. Listening to the crap they play on the radio is just about enough to make me puke.
Good news: Search The City. This band has restored my faith in radio-friendly alt rock music. They have a sound similar to Acceptance, Sing It Loud, Anberlin, and Secret & Whisper. Listen to track 1, Son Of A Gun, for some really fantastic song-writing.
